History
Sandlot was founded as a hand-made leather goods manufacturer in 2013. Materials were sourced from used baseball gloves. Upon partnership with the local retailer, Made in KC, Sandlot started making leather goods from USA tanned leather. A later partnership with Cerner gave Sandlot the ability to scale up to 7 employees making leather journals for Cerner employees, tote bags, pennants, & the wlle™ drink sweater for wholesale accounts in addition to the personal leather goods assortment.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sandlot took monetary donations and made face-masks for local hospitals, first-responders, schools, and businesses. The company grew from a staff of 7 to a staff of 60+. Sandlot manufactured more than 500,000 face-masks and tens of thousands of testing gowns. As the urgent need for PPE diminished, Sandlot pivoted to making baseball caps.
Now, Sandlot's primary products are baseball caps, the wlle™ drink sweater, pennants, banners, and tote bags.
Culture
Sandlot is rooted in a love for sport, especially baseball. Vintage sportswear inspires a feeling of nostalgia, simpler times, and good design. We strive to make the finest hats in the US today. Our workplace is focused, but fun. We provide beverages and snacks in our breakroom for employees. We're flexible with time off and respectful of our employees time away from work.
