Every hat here is built from raw fabric in our Kansas City shop. Not an imported blank with a logo added, the whole cap: panels cut, crown sewn, brim shaped, inspected before it ships. Dad hats, truckers, wool flatbills, Negro Leagues heritage builds, and hometown marks. We're the only hat company still cutting, sewing, and shipping out of Kansas City.

Most hats sold as American-made are imported blanks that get embroidered here. That's decoration, not construction, and it's the difference this whole shop is built on. A genuinely made-in-USA hat is cut and sewn from fabric in the United States: panels cut from the roll, crown stitched, brim shaped, sweatband and closure set. That's the hard, equipment-heavy part, and it's the part almost nobody still does here. We wrote a full guide on how to tell what's actually American-made.
We do it on Southwest Boulevard in Kansas City. Heavyweight brushed twill, Melton wool with real density, raised felt appliques stitched into the panel rather than printed on, and hardware chosen to outlast the hat. Every cap is inspected before it leaves the building. Kansas City was a textile town before the industry went overseas, and this is what bringing that back actually looks like. Where are Sandlot hats made?
Every Sandlot hat is cut, stitched, and inspected at our shop on Southwest Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri. In-house from cut to ship, no offshore finishing. We're the only hat company still cutting, sewing, and shipping out of Kansas City.
What does "made in USA" actually mean on a hat?
It should mean the cap itself was cut and sewn from fabric in the United States, not that an imported blank was embroidered here. A lot of headwear sold as American-made is a finished import with a logo added, which is decoration, not construction. Ours are built from the roll in Kansas City.
What materials do you use?
Heavyweight brushed cotton twill for our cotton builds, and Melton wool with real density for wool caps. Marks are raised felt appliques stitched into the panel rather than printed on, and closures run leather straps with metal clasps, snapbacks, or adjustable straps depending on the style.
What styles of hats do you make?
Unstructured cotton dad hats, five-panel trucker hats with mesh backs, Melton wool ballcaps and vintage flatbills, Negro Leagues heritage caps built with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, and Kansas City baseball and football builds.
How do Sandlot hats fit?
Most styles are one size with an adjustable closure, noted on each product page. Crowns run low to mid profile, and sweatbands soften quickly, so hats are comfortable for all-day wear without a long break-in.
Are made-in-USA hats worth the extra cost?
If you keep your hats, usually yes. Domestic cut-and-sew uses heavier fabric and better hardware, and a well-built cap breaks in and lasts for years instead of a season. You're paying for construction, not a label.
